Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 24, 2026

Summary: Nuva is an offline-first personal journal. Your journal entries, moods, activities, notes, and insights stay on your device and are not stored on our servers. Nuva currently uses limited diagnostics tools, including Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring, to diagnose crashes, monitor app performance, and improve app stability. Product analytics/event tracking is not currently implemented.

This Privacy Policy explains how Nuva ("Nuva", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Nuva mobile application and website.

1. Journal data stored locally on your device

Nuva is designed to store your personal journal data locally on your device. This includes your journal entries, moods, activities, notes, tags, reflections, and the relationships or insights generated from that content.

We do not operate a server that receives or stores your journal content. Your journal data is not sent to Nuva servers, and we cannot view, recover, export, or delete that journal content remotely.

2. No account, signup, waitlist, or email collection

Nuva does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, login credentials, profile information, or payment information through the app. We also do not currently operate a waitlist, newsletter, mailing list, or signup form on the Nuva website.

3. Diagnostics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring

Nuva currently uses Firebase services provided by Google for diagnostics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring:

  • Firebase Crashlytics , used to identify, diagnose, prioritize, and fix crashes and stability issues.
  • Firebase Performance Monitoring , used to understand app performance, startup time, screen rendering, network timing, and similar performance characteristics.

These services may collect and process technical and diagnostic information such as app version, package or bundle identifier, operating system name and version, device model and hardware information, crash timestamps, crash traces, exception messages, thread and stack trace data, performance traces, network request timing and response information, Firebase installation identifiers, session identifiers, locale or language, and country derived from IP address.

Nuva does not currently implement product analytics or custom event tracking for general behavioral analytics. We do not intentionally send your journal entries, moods, activities, notes, tags, reflections, or personal insights to Firebase Crashlytics or Firebase Performance Monitoring.

Because crash and diagnostic tools may capture contextual technical information at the time of an error, there is a risk that information visible in the app state, logs, breadcrumbs, exception messages, or error metadata could be included in a crash report if not properly filtered. We aim to configure our tools to avoid intentionally collecting journal content or other sensitive personal content.

4. What we do not collect

We do not collect, receive, or store the personal content you enter into Nuva, including:

  • journal entries;
  • moods and emotional check-ins;
  • activities and activity history;
  • notes, tags, and reflections;
  • relationships, charts, statistics, or insights generated from your journal content.

5. Device backups, exports, and local storage

Your Nuva data is stored locally on your device. Depending on your device settings, operating system, and backup configuration, your local app data may be included in device backups or cloud backups controlled by your device provider. Those backups are not controlled by Nuva.

If Nuva allows you to export or share data, you are responsible for protecting any exported files or shared information.

6. Deleting your data

Because journal data is stored locally on your device and not on Nuva servers, you can delete it by deleting entries within the app, clearing the app's local data, or uninstalling the app. We cannot delete, recover, or restore local journal data remotely.

Crash-reporting and performance-monitoring data held by Firebase or Google is handled according to Google's policies and the retention settings configured for the Firebase project.

7. Legal basis and purposes

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, we process crash-reporting, performance-monitoring, and diagnostic information for our legitimate interests in understanding app performance, fixing bugs, improving reliability, preventing abuse, and maintaining the security of Nuva. In jurisdictions where consent is required for certain analytics or identifiers, Nuva should request and respect that consent.

8. Children's privacy

Nuva is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to use digital services without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided information to us through analytics, crash reporting, or another channel, please contact us.

9. Security

Since your journal data is stored locally, protecting your device is important. Use a strong device passcode, biometric lock where available, and appropriate backup settings. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International processing

Firebase and Google may process technical and diagnostic data in countries other than your country of residence. That processing is governed by Google privacy policies and applicable data-processing terms.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of Nuva after the updated policy becomes effective means that the updated policy applies to your use of Nuva.
